Sometimes when a company mistreats you, you feel an obligation to let the world know so people can reconsider working with those companies. Here are three businesses that recently did not treat me fairly, and I wanted to tell you my experiences.
Flight Network
A third-party travel company. When you Google the airline you want, this is the first result. So, you click it and you think it’s the airline. It isn’t. Plus, they charge more for the exact same flights. And, if you want to cancel, it’s $45 per ticket. So, feel free to use them if you want to pay more for the same plane ticket you can get directly from the airline, but have even more restrictive cancelation policies. In other words, a scam.
Bayou Tree Service of New Orleans
When trimming my trees, they covered my AC condenser unit to prevent trimmings from getting in. The problem is, the guy managing the project forgot to tell me he did that (after he told me he would tell me before he did that so I could shut off my AC). So, the AC kept running and this blew out the AC and caused me several electrical and AC issues. I have spent thousands of dollars to fix all of it. They also cracked the lid on my generator with tree limbs that fell. I sent them a video of a major crack on the lid the next day. They denied that by sending me a pic from before they started (that they took to protect themselves) that shows only a scratch on the generator lid. So they literally sent me evidence that they cracked it — as evidence that they didn’t crack it. Anyhow, Bayou Tree Service claims to be a reputable company (the guy I worked with kept repeating this to me), but they never reimbursed me for my problems that they caused. They eventually lawyered up with their attorney McClain Schonekas, who of course did nothing to help. Anyhow, I used Audubon Tree Care for my next project and they did a great job. So, if you live in New Orleans, use Audubon and not Bayou.
Ethan Allen Furniture
I ordered a rug — they said delivery would be in a certain time frame. Then, they said it was going to be delivered a few weeks late. I called, and tried to cancel because I was leaving town for a long trip. They asked me to wait, so I waited. It got delivered the day before I took that month long trip. The rug was expensive but not the quality I was used to with Ethan Allen. It was a very expensive rug that was cheaply made. I couldn’t return it because I had to leave that next day early in the morning. When I got back from the trip, they said that I can only return things 10 days after delivery. I explained that I didn’t have time because I had to leave town early the next day — and that they had delivered it a few weeks late. And, that I was being cool by not cancelling it when they originally told me it was going to be late. Ethan Allen said too bad they didn’t care. Now I am stuck with a cheaply made but expensive rug. I guess I should have cancelled it when I could; as the saying goes: no good deed goes unpunished.
