Engel served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1989-2021, and when he left the House, was the 16th longest serving member of the entire Congress (tied with two Members). During his time on Capitol Hill, Congressman Engel was known for his leadership on foreign policy, which culminated in his servings as Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee in the 116th Congress.
